Engaging in deep encounters between the physical body and the conscious individual self Andrea Pena & Artists (AP&A) is recognized for its alternative multi-disciplinary universes that rupture our notions of a sensible humanity. Political yet abstract creations which transform conceptual research into theatrical larger ensemble installations, to be understood as visceral experiences for the spectator. The foundations of Peña’s work is to create rich choreographic systems that reveal the point of view of the performers. Negotiations can take the form of frames, concepts, athletic constraints, to reveal the individual and collective point of view, as much as the choreographers.

BOGOTA

This new creation anchors, explores and challenges the practices that have carved AP&A’s unique hybrid language into BOGOTA, a large scale work that explores the notions of death and resurrection, from a post-industrial, queer and a Latin American baroque lense. Death and resurrection are explored through my Colombian heritage coloured by the historic nuances of this colonized country, as a source of resilience that is deconstructed form a from a queer, post- industrial and post-human lense.
